Full Description

January 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Beauty National Mapping Programme.
Earthworks of World War Two anti-glider ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S8) across the area of heath in Westleton to the south of Newdelight Walks, Blythburgh. The ditch itself is visible, along with mounds of upcast spoil either side, which are visible on Lidar imagery as recently as 2010 (S8). At least one pillbox is also visible to the west of the ditches; the structure furthest to the west may not be a pillbox but it was difficult to discern from the available aerial photographs, along with two possible weapons pits or training trenches.
