Full Description
Pottery sherds C13-C14. Quernstone. (NB one possible Ipswich ware rim.) Found on Mill River banks.
Metalwork, including ? C10 item from TM 220 434 (1982).
Monitoring of soil-stripping in connection with a water-main revealed only one area of archaeological interest: aprobable ditch, 2m wide, which ielded late-12th-to 14th-century pottery. This lay close to a previously recorded Roman and medieval pottery scatter. The ditch coincided with an existing fence line along the northern edge of the meadows beside the Mill River, suggesting continuity between the present field boundaries and their medieval predecessors. See (S1).
Also Rom.
