Full Description
2018: Geophysical survey had poor results as the field had been spread with organic waste which resulted in a highly elevated and variable magnetic background across the whole site. Cropmarks of at least two possible barrows and several linear ditch features identified on satalite imagery were not picked up (see BRF 095 and BRF 008). However, several linear trends could be distinguished. One locates part of a track and boundary leading to a cottage mapped on the 1888-1913 OS map. The other two trends mark the boundaries of a linear strip of allotments visible on a 1945 vertical aerial photograph which survived, as least partially, until the early 1960s. The survey across the main site generally did not reveal any other features. The area in the floodplain however had better results but only identified one anomaly caused by a former field boundary ditch (S1).
