Full Description
July 2019. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
A possible cold war military feature or modern pit is seen as an earthwork on visualised lidar data. The features consist of a mounded area with a small square pit in the centre. The feature looks like it has been recently constructed in the early 1950s and is not seen on the 1940s aerial photographs. The pit feature is in close proximity to a group of Second World War possible training features to the north east (WSW 146) and a Second World War – Cold War bombing range (IKL 353) to the west. The feature may relate to a military training feature, military emplacement, modern drainage feature or possibly modern forestry. The mounded area and pit are presently under an area of forestry and can be seen on the visualised lidar data.
