Summary

Probable Second World War – Cold War explosive craters are seen as earthworks on aerial photographs. The explosive craters can be seen as earthworks in the 1940s and 1950s with the majority of the features levelled by the 1970s. The explosive craters most likely relate to the Second World War and Cold War Bombing range situated to the north east at Berners Heath (IKL 353).

August 2019. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
Probable Second World War – Cold War explosive craters are seen as earthworks on aerial photographs (S1-S3). The explosive craters can be seen as earthworks in the 1940s and 1950s with the majority of the features levelled by the 1970s, aside from the crater located at TL 7933 7511 which can be seen as an earthwork on recent (2018) aerial photographs (S3). The explosive craters most likely relate to the Second World War and Cold War Bombing range situated to the north east at Berners Heath (IKL 353).
