Monument record WSW 206 - Undated ring ditch and a possible mound.

Please read our .

Summary

A penannular ring ditch and a possible low mound are seen as a cropmark and an earthwork (which has since been levelled) on aerial photographs. The features consists of a penannular ring ditch surrounding a possible mound. It is possible that the ditch and mound may relate to a possible Bronze Age Barrow and are in close relation to a scheduled Bronze Age Barrow approximately 100m to the north (WSW 013). It is also possible that the mound and ditch are natural in origin or a product of modern forestry. The ditch is seen as cropmark with the mound seen as a very low earthwork in the 1940s and is partially covered by low vegetation. The site is covered by a forestry plantation by the late 1950s and the low mound is presumed have been levelled as it is not visible on the visualised lidar data.
