Full Description

Moat - fragmentary. Isolated, near parish boundary.
Irregular long rectangular shape; house occupies E half and an old orchard the W half. Surrounding waterfilled ditch is narrow for a moat. The W arm has been substantially enlarged with a deep hole at its centre. The adjoining field name `Clay Pit Close' suggests that this enlargement may be connected with PMed clay diggings. A large hole/pond in the middle of the N side may also have been a clay pit. W and N arms of `moat' cleaned out September/October 1992 (S1).
