Full Description

Incense cup found in IA pit? (S1) (S2).
Type site of `Darmsden style' pottery - major Early Iron Age (once considered to have possible LBA origins) pottery group/s found in a 'shallow trench' in 1938 by D W Wilson and excavated in 1939 by G Maynard and from a pit (pit 1), 12 feet deep and 16 feet in diameter in 1946. Two other pits were examined, one yielding only Roman finds, the other not known. Details in (S3) and see IA for main notes and references.
