Full Description

1907: Excavation 5 feet in diameter and over 20 feet deep, by Col St John F M Fancourt in garden of Danecroft (TM 0372 5856) located `eolithic' flints (S1).

Wymer 1985 records that a large pit was worked in the 19th century on the west side of the town and is the likely find source, (which is close to "Danecroft". He regards the accounct of Fancourt's excavation as fanciful and unreliable.

Items include handaxes, flakes and a core, (S1-S3)

Point is likely approximate.

No further details found in Ipswich Museum Accession registers September 2020.
