Full Description
Moat. Rectangular, circa 80m x 60m, arms circa 8m wide. Causeways in N and E arms. Wet, occupied C18 hall. Main hall outside to N after 1838. Straddles parish boundary with Bradfield Combust. Isolated, circa 1,900m from church (S1). C12 & C13 pottery in field to N & W of hall. Humps and bumps in pasture field to E of moat (S2). Tithe map records moated area to NE as `vineyard' and plot to W of moat as `Bowling Alley'. Hall, yard and gardens shown to E of moat - now gone.
Note: Also possible site of original burial place & chapel of St Edmund of circa 869 (see S5) - see Sax.

1461 Vested in T. Lord Roos annexed to main manor BRC 001.
1575 Vested in W.Spring.
