Full Description

Pin Farm Round Barrow.
1935: Slade Bottom - bowl, ploughed (R3)
1969: 0.6m high; ditch 40m in diameter, 5m wide; ploughed. Excavation revealed 16 burials; central grave had been robbed by previous excavators and only contained a few fragments of bone, a sherd of BA pottery and the end of an amber bead. Other graves: bones of a child (10-12); bones of adult female; bones of adult male and adolescent female; child (circa 8). Cremations: adult female (?) with sherds of collared urn; adult ? female; adult ? female; youth; child (2-4) under collared urn; adult ? female & male; young adult female (R2).
1977: Mound 28m in diameter, 0,6m high; ploughed (S1).
1986: Visible as a rise in a field of barley and in a farm track which runs over its E half. Also marked by increased density of non-artefactual flint. Dimensions difficult to estimate: perhaps 0.5m high and 30m in diameter (S1).
1840 Tithe map shows stylistic depiction of round barrow - located in arable field (S3).
