Full Description
LBA bronze sword found in river Little Ouse. Identified by S Needham for the British Museum who hold a drawing of the sword - copy in parish file (S1). Found (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) in bed of Little Ouse (on County boundary with Norfolk)(see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) whilst diving with an aquatic metal detector in 1985 or early 1986. Found close to, but not with, iron sword (see Sax) (S2).
Grid reference changed (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) and Norfolk HER number to 22921. Sword in two pieces (whole when found?), tip end bent, where broken, slight damage to actual tip and near tip. 54.5 cms long, four rivet holes, two rivets, Ewart Park form (S3).
