Full Description

Fragments of Saxon urn with vertical grooves, at least 4 sherds, 2 with parallel grooves, one plain and plain base shown in sketches in IPSMG accessions register (copies in parish file)(S3). Attributed by IPSMG to "site 22" and grid referenced to IXW 005 but apparently confused with other urn fragments (IPSMG 1951-86), which did come from IXW 005 and were mis- located by IPSMG to (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(S1).
This find not identified in Brown archive but S E West remembers B Brown saying that there was ESax pottery at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), so this may be it (S2).
