Full Description

Site of St James' Town Farm, possibly moated. Related field boundaries (S1). St James' Town Farm shown on OS 1:10560 undated.
St James Town Farm demolished in 1946; now shows as a cropmark and as a scatter of PMed material. Two spreads of Med material in area of cropmark enclosures on either side of the recorded farm house:-
At TM 3343 8029 (c) there is a scatter of C13 C14 unglazed pottery, some of which may be as early as the C12, also two lava mill stone fragments. At TM 3336 8015 (c) there is a large spread of C13 C14 unglazed pottery (S2).
