Full Description

1968-1986: Fieldwalking by Colin Pendleton on field previously fallow for a number of years located scatter of flint, pottery, bone, burnt flint etc. Finds include various worked flint, animal bone, pottery and a leaf arrowhead. Other finds in field to SE, from extension of sand ridge, include a leaf arrowhead (P Norman, A16). Other finds made circa 1978- 1985 by:- (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) include one oblique (single barbed) arrowhead, worked flint and pottery and a polished greenstone axe fragment. (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) includes a polished flint axe. Details in (S1).
1980: Freshly disturbed pottery & bone found on surface led to trial excavation in 1981 locating surviving BA horizon, artefacts and environmental remains (S1)(S2).
1982-1986: Full scale excavation by SAU located mainly BA material at NW end of excavated area and Neo at SE end. Finds included numerous Neo flints, bones, pottery etc., and features (see excavation archive), including a charcoal clamp (radiocarbon dated to 2070 +/- 120 bc - HAR 5636), pits and a linear feature (S2,S3,S4,S5,S6,S7,S8). Slightly fuller publication of site in (S9)(S10).
