Full Description

A pair of trenches can be seen close to a field boundary in a field just to the west of Lowestoft Road, Reydon (S1). Also visible c 125m to the north is a gun emplacement, probably a spigot mortar emplacement. These features are of World War II date and would have formed part of the defences of this area.

March 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
The gun emplacement described above is visible as an open earthwork on aerial photographs from 1945 (S2) but was considered more likely to be a bomb crater.
E. Ford (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 27th March 2014.
