Summary

An undated bank and several ditches are visible as earthworks, soilmarks and cropmarks on aerial photographs on land to the south of Elms Lane, Wangford. Full Description

April 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
An undated bank and several ditches are visible as earthworks, soilmarks and cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1-S4) on land to the south of Elms Lane, Wangford. Since the features are visible in a different way on each of the photographs each of the sources has been combined to create a map of the ditches, which may represent post medieval drainage features or field boundaries. A possible enclosure may be visible in the south-western corner. Due to the discovery of Roman pottery from the area, however (SHER WNF 003 and WNF 004), it is possible that some or all of these features may be Roman in date.
E. Ford (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 9th April 2014.
