Full Description
Multiple structures, buildings and tents forming part of a WWII temporary camp. Bramford Hall Park was used for a D-Day marshalling area camp (R7) in 1944. Multiple structures which probably form accommodation huts can be seen on RAF photography from March 1944 (S1). Concrete bases are visible in a number of areas, but the structures have not put in place. However, by May 1944 all the structures were in place and in addition over 170 bell tents are also visible located in small groups across the east and south side of the park (S2). The structures and tents are still in place and clearly visible in July 1944 (S3), however the removal of some of the huts and structures has been completed by August 1944, though the groups of tents are still visible (S4). All traces of the camp have been removed by 1947.
