A possible Post Medieval tree ring and a number of probable Post Medieval field boundaries are visible as parchmarks of ditches on aerial photographs taken in 1976, located in the grounds of Levington Hall, centred on TM 24073894. The ring ditch, located at TM 24043908, is very narrow and measures around 6m in diameter. Its size, as well as its location within the grounds of Levington Hall, suggest that it may be a tree ring related to formal planting within the parkland surrounding the hall. This is supported by the curvilinear boundary just to the south of the tree ring that may also be part of the formal landscape. A number of the field boundaries and the possible trackway visible further to the south may be aligned on the "M" shaped boundary shown to the north of Chapel Field on the 1791 plan of Stratton Hall estate (S1). These boundaries appear as more substantial ditches such as, for example, those which join at TM 24023896, possible because they are the ditches where hedgerows have been removed. See LVT 047 for the undated phase of cropmarks visible on a slightly different alignment in the same location. (S2) (S3)
Also see LVT045 and LVT046 for the nearby ring ditches and SNH002 for the chapel and possible hospital site to the south. (S4)
