Full Description

Possible Post Medieval field boundaries are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs, centred on TM 20533694 in fields to the south of Chelmondiston village. The ditches run parallel to the modern field boundaries as seen on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 25" map of circa 1884 (S1) and probably represent where Post Medieval boundary hedges have been grubbed out. (S2) (S3) See CHL 003 for the possible Later Prehistoric or Roman field systems visible in the same location. (S4)
