Lock on the River Gipping, shown near watermill on the 1880's and 1900's O.S maps.

Evaluation identified four pits of Late Mesolithic / Early Neolithic date, which contained a small assemblage of worked flint and a small single sherd of pottery.

Watermill dated to 1777.

Monitoring identified upright oak planks, of post C13th date and likely represent part of a quay, wharf structure or revetment associated with wetland reclamation.
