Suffolk Archaeological Recording Foundation About

The Suffolk Archaeological Recording Foundation supports the recording, analysis and conservation of archaeological sites and objects in Suffolk, especially those found by members of the public.

It aims to promote and add to the collective knowledge and understanding of Suffolk’s archaeological past for all.

Our main objective is to advance education for the public benefit in the subject of archaeology by means of grants, advocacy and advice to promote, support and improve the archaeological record of Suffolk. In particular but not exclusively, by directly or supporting others to engage in the recording, analysis and conservation of archaeology and archaeological objects to benefit and advance engagement with the local community in Suffolk. Thereby promoting and adding to the collective knowledge and understanding of Suffolk’s historical past for all.

The Foundation’s initial focus will be to provide grants to the archaeological service for the recording and analysis of archaeological sites and objects found by members of the public in Suffolk.
