Description

Excavation was undertaken prior to mineral extraction by Lafarge Aggregates Ltd. The uppermost was topsoil 0.3-0.35m thick, a friable mid grey brown silty sand with flints. It lay directly over the natural deposits, a friable, pale orange/brown yellow slightly silty sand with flints. In small patches topsoil overlay a thin c0.1m subsoil layer of firm, pale orangey brown silty sand with flints (S1).
