Full Description
St Edmund Memorial penny, post Cuerdale group, circa AD 905-910, 1.37g. Found in 1987 with metal detector by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s). Obv: +(sideways `S')CEA. DIVI; rev: +RODD.Z.II (second D is retrograde). A coin with the same reverse reading but without the pellets is known (R1). The moneyer is perhaps related to that of a coin in the British Museum reading RODVL (1931- 4-7-5) and both are possibly essaying Rodulfus (Radulfus), another Germanic name among many others in the St Edmund memorial series. Slide in BM (S1)(S2).
Also rectangular brooch with corner projections - ?LSax/Med (S3). Also Med finds from same field - see parish file.
