Full Description
Three basically complete, one lower half and one body sherd from five (? complete) Rom vessels (jars). Found in mud after very low tide to NE of Cob Island (seen from a small boat by finder, Mr ?). All found upright in river mud, `in area 15ft across'. One with animal bones inside (some kept), others a `grassy like substance and mud'. Some burnt substance sampled - ?grain/ legume seeds? Also line/s of wooden posts (note 2 areas shown on map). `This part of river bed has been scoured by current in last few years and mud level has dropped' (S1)(S2).
Note: further Rom finds from possible `island' location in River Alde in Salisbury Museum - see Friston 001.
