Full Description
1978: possible ditch or pond (large shallow feature) and a small cut feature (ditch or pit ? ) seen in the edge of a stream - Cavenham Brook. The stream has been recut in this area where there is also an old (PMed) weir. Features contained pottery, late C1 - C2, and animal bone (S1).
Further examination of the area produced scattered potsherds through the wooded area to the N and also to the E (see LKD 019)(S2).
Feb 2005: further pottery, including Oxford ware mortaria, and tile recovered from bed of stream at this point. Also numerous animal bones left in situ (David Stimson & Colin Pendleton).
Nov 2005: Hadham white slipped mortarium, Hadham redware (S3).
