Full Description
Bronze 'moustache - like' object (chape?) metal detected from 'within 100m' of MNL 544 (another moustache like object). Believed to have been found on drove (earth/grass)? - precise spot not marked on map (S1). These objects are very rare - originally thought to be medieval (S2). One was found within the 'Salisbury hoard' (S3) & thought to be IA (although the hoard was a mixture of BA and IA material) but the only other finds from this field are all MBA (see MNL 086, 103, 140, 446, 447, 454). The same is true of one from Methwold, Norfolk. This suggests a MBA date as a probability in these cases.
