Summary

A large earthwork bank, approximately 1m high, has been recorded from field visits to the west of Lodge Farm Cottages. The earthwork bank can be seen on visualised lidar data and is most likely post medieval in date. The bank is marked on the Ordnance Survey 1880s map along the eastern side of Gorse Covert.

Full Description

Large earthwork bank, circa 1m high, on W side of Forestry trackway to W of Lodge Farm Cottages. Marked on OS 1880s map (S1) on E side of Gorse Covert.

August 2019. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
Sections of earthwork bank most likely post medieval in date, are seen on visualised lidar data (S2). This bank has been recorded as part of IKL 370 along with further banks identified by this survey. The monument polygon has been amended to correlate with the location of the feature from the lidar data.
