Full Description
April 2016. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Beauty National Mapping Programme.
The site of a Bronze Age round barrow cemetery is suggested at this location due to the high number of ring ditch cropmarks (ADT 007, ADT 008, ADT 027, ADT 026, ADT 049 & ADT 104), recorded in this is locality. The positioning of the barrows on an area of higher ground overlooking of the coast is characteristic of the landscape setting of these sorts of monuments. The relationship with the trackway and fields of ADT 099 would suggest that the barrows were still extant at the time of laying out of the main boundary ditches.
See individual HER records for photo references and details of sites.
