Full Description
Sherds of samian, grey ware, large storage jar, base of colour coated beaker, found during building of new bridge (S1).
1968: `A few Samian and coarse ware sherds found on river bed' (also SAS 006)(S5). Note grid reference in (S6) is wrong.
Coins - Domitian - C3, from stream either side of road (IPSMG 1977 - retained by finder - (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)). Two Domitian, one C3 Antoninianus, one denarius Alexander Severus (S3)(S4)(R1).
Scatter of metalwork found around (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), N side of stream (all from stream bed). Bronze disc brooch with applied military scene ('Ad Locutio' type), iron lance head, bronze medallion of Septimus Severus (AD 195) and coins including two asses Domitian, denarii Julia Maesa and Julia Domna, four Antoniniani (S2).
1961: Probable location of finds by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) (?) - see SAS 006. September 1993: Metal detector finds by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), from dredged soil from adjacent stream at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), including two bronze coins of C3 and C4 date. Two bronze brooches of Colchester derivative type, in good condition, 38.6mm long, one 41mm long. A bronze brooch of hinged type with fantail, length 34.5mm (S7). All three drawn.
