Full Description

Bronze quatrefoil strap separator or belt mount with one arm missing. Found metal detecting (S1). A Carolingian-derived type but probably of local manufacture. Cast, in the centre a human face in relief with small projecting pieces framing it on each side and above. Small traces of gilding survive on the human face. The arms are decorated with an acanthus foliage pattern with traces of tinning. On the back a lug on each arm near the end but these show no sign of having been pierced and they look complete. MSax- LSax, C9? (S2). Other finds in this area of shore all recent (S1). Found with metal detector, on foreshore (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(S3)(S4). Drawings in parish file.
