Full Description

A number of possible features are visible as cropmarks in a field to the south-east of Wangford Common Covert (S1). The clearest features appear to be linear features in the south-west part of the field, possibly forming part of a small rectilinear enclosure. To the north of the field , and abutting the field boundary, is a curved ditch feature, which may possibly be some kind of ring ditch c 20m across, although this is by no means certain. There are various other marks in the field but many of these have not been mapped, as there is a lot of geological 'noise' on the aerial photographs, which confuses and obscures the archaeology. Also some of the clearer, more regular linear features may well be fairly recent field drains.

March 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
Many linear features, possibly relating to a multi-period site, are visible on aerial photographs (S2-S5) in the field described above. The site polygon has been extended to the west to include additional linear ditches thought to be related to the site. Additional ditches possibly representing trackways have been mapped in the field, and the ring ditch described above has been recorded separately as SHER WNF 049.
